Camera centric ASUS ZenFone Zoom with 3x Optical Zoom launched in Taiwan

Taiwanese device maker, ASUS has announced the release of Asus ZenFone Zoom; the camera centric device will be available starting December 1st in Taiwan. The official release is coming almost 12 months (a year) after it was announced at the CES 2015 in January along with the Zenfone 2.

The key highlight of the Asus ZenFone Zoom ZX551ML lies in the camera aspect; it is equipped with a rear facing 13MP PixelMaster main camera with Laser AutoFocus, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), 3x Optical Zoom, varying aperture range from f/2.7 to f/4.8 and Dual-colour Real tone flash. It is the thinnest phone yet with 3x optical zoom at 11.95mm thin.

The device sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) and a pixel density of 403ppi; a runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS with Zen UI ontop and is backed by a built-in 3000mAh Lithium Polymer battery. The front camera is a 5MP snapper for selfies.

The Asus ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML) is available in two internal storage and processor configurations; the 64GB storage model is backed a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor clocked up to 2.3GHz and the 128GB model is backed by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3590 processor clocked up to 2.5GHz.

Both models have up to 4GB RAM and connectivity options onboard includes Bluetooth 4.0, Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC Type A/B and 4G LTE (LTE Cat.4). In terms of pricing, the 64GB model costs TWD 13,990 (US$ 429) while the 128GB model costs TWD 15,990 (US$. 490). Meteorite Black and Glacier White are the only available colour options.
