Omate Rise smartwatch with 3G and Android Lollipop Debuts

Omate seems to be the only company not to fascinated with the Android Wear; it has just announced the Omate Rise – a 3G-enabled smartwatch running full blown Android OS. With it features it is more of a smartphone on the wrist despite its screen size than a smartwatch.

Housed in a body with the mix of polycarbonate and steel body Omate Rise sports 1.3-inch (360 x 360 pixels) round capacitive touchscreen display with sapphire coating. The frame is made from carbon fiber and the strap is made from rubber but can be interchanged with any 22mm straps.

It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek MT2601 (Cortex A7) processor with 512GB RAM, 4GB storage space and is backed by a 580mAh battery which is expected to last up to two days of usage. It uses a normal micro SIM slot and supports 3G connectivity.

Other connectivity options on the Omate Rise includes – Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Omate OUI 4.0 ontop, is rated at 1 ATM water resistance and is compatible with devices running Android 4.3+ and iOS 9+.

Omate will start the Indiegogo campaign for the Omate Rise on December 7th (Monday) and it will only run for 48 hours. The first 500 units will retail for $199 each and the next 500 units for $209 each. Other units will go for $219 and the final retail price could go up to $350 when it launches in March.

Only Super Early Bird and Early Bird backers will get a free Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor as the watch itself does not have a heart rate sensor.
