ZTE Open C2 with Firefox OS Launched in Peru

Firefox OS partners, Movistar and ZTE has made the ZTE Open C2 smartphone available in Peru. The device which is the updated version of the ZTE Open C released in 2014, will sell for a price tag of PEN 189 (USD 56) and free movie tickets will be offered to those who purchase the device

The ZTE Open C2 might be the last smartphone announced running Firefox OS as Mozilla has confirmed stopping the development of Firefox OS smartphones and focus on Internet of Things (IoT) and other connected products.

The device sports a 4-inch LCD display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA) and a pixel density of Under the hood, it is powered by a single core Spreadtrum SC7715 clocked at 1.0GHz with ARM Mali-400 MP1 GPU, 512MB of RAM and 4GB built-in storage space out of which only 1.6GB is available to the end user.

For photography, the ZTE Open C2 has a front facing 2-megapixels camera for video chats and presumably for selfies; and a rear facing 5-megapixels main camera. It supports 2G and 3G networks only and other connectivity options includes – Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

The ZTE Open C2 is backed by a 1400mAh Lithium-ion battery and on the software side, it runs Firefox OS 2.1 rather than the version 2.2. This version brings a new interface with better experience, access to notifications on lock screen, new task manager and ‘Find my Device’ feature.
