Ahead of the CES 2016, LG has announced the LG SmartThinQ Hub – the smart home automation hub joins the list of smart home and other connected products expected to be on display at the event coming up next week.
The LG SmartThinQ Hub serves as ‘a gateway to smart sensors and connected appliances in the home‘ and connects to a smartphone app to serve this purpose. It plays a central role in collecting information from smart appliances and other implements in the household connected to the SmartThinQ sensors via Bluetooth, Zigbee and Wi-Fi.
The cylindrical-shaped hub with metallic body in either Black or Champagne Gold colours, has a 3.5-inch LCD display located on the top for displaying notifications and reminders. It also has a built-in speaker at the base for announcements, streaming music from iHeartRadio or play from a mobile device (tablet or smartphone) via Bluetooth.
The LG SmartThinQ Hub is compatible with a handful of devices that support the AllJoyn’s open source platform and the South Korean company has also formed an alliance with home improvement outfit, Lowe’s to integrate it’s smart devices to Lowe’s Iris smart home services.
