Samsung to Showcase three Wearable Concepts at the CES 2016

Samsung has announced it will be showcasing three wearable concepts at the CES 2016 in Las Vegas. WELT, rink and TipTalk as they are known, are projects from the South Korean company’s Creative Lab (C-Lab) division which gives free hand to employees to come up with their creative business ideas.

The idea of a wearable to most is limited to smartwatchs, smartbands or fitness trackers which are worn on the wrist, how about ones worn on the waist? WELT is a smart wearable healthcare belt which does what most belts do i.e keep the pants up and does a lot more. It tracks the physical activity, eating habits and behaviour of user from the waist.

Next is rink which happens to be ‘a hand-motion controller for mobile VR devices which offers a more intuitive and nuanced way to interact with the virtual world’. Like most controllers, it is worn on the wrist but this would be paired with the Gear VR.

TipTalk is the third of the trio, it is a watch-strap shaped device which syncs to smartphones enabling TTS functionality and attaches to watches – analog or smart. It help delivers a whole new user experience by allowing people listen to sounds from their mobile devices without headsets or headphones but by simply touching their fingers to their ear.

Samsung reiterates that WELT, rink and TipTalk are all still in development but are being showcased to get hands-on feedback from CES attendees to know where to apply improvements and gauge their market potential.
