In my little tour of the Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos a couple of days ago and I came across a new smartphone make selling under the ‘iLand’ brand. The device currently on offer by the company is the iLand Genesys which comes with entry-level specs and run Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box.
iLand Genesys Specifications and Features
Moving to the specs, the iLand Genesys sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS OGS display and is powered by a quad-core Mediatek MT6580 Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali-400 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB built-in storage space and run Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
For additional storage space, there is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB. The device manages a front facing 2 megapixel camera (interpolated up to 5 megapixel) for selfies and video chats, and a rear facing 5 megapixel camera (interpolated to 8 megapixel) with LED flash.
The iLand Genesys has Dual Micro SIM slots, supports 2G and 3G networks, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and is backed by a removable 2400mAh battery. Sensor options onboard includes – Gravity sensor, IR proximity sensor, Gyroscope, Ambient light sensor and Touch sensor.
Pricing and Availability
The iLand Genesys is available from online retail platform – Konga.com in either White or Black colours for a price tag of N15,000 (plus 5% VAT) in Nigeria. It is also sold at all the SMAT stores in Ikeja, Lagos (Nigeria) and some replaceable back covers in different colours can be purchased along.

This phone is very sleek. I own one. For the price that it is listed for, I suggest any one take a gamble on it. You won't be disappointed.
This is an unknown brand. I bought one from konga.com. I will say this phone is dope. Looks and feels very strong. I will recommend it to friends, family and everyone. I personally think it should cost more than it is listed on Konga.com
The best way to gain traction is to start smaller and then work their way up the ladder. It will take a while to establish themselves like Tecno or Innjoo.
Hi, I’ve got also one and thought it was OK. I have the problem that people can hardly hear me. Whatever I try the receiver of my call hears me only from a very far distance……….. Anyone facing the same problem? I can’t reach Iland at present moment so don’t know how to solve………….

In the meanwhile I’ve been contacted by Iland, they have given me the number of a service engineer to check. If it is a serious problem they will replace the phone!

Well, it did not go fast enough for Iland (I didn’t manage to deliver to them for a check because of a busy schedule) so they send immediately somebody to me with a new phone. I’ve tested and the phone works as expected. Clear tone and people hear me well now.

How good is the camera please, especially in the dark? I want to order the phone and I love taking pics.

Hello Richard, there are several hundred of people that are currently using the phone. There is enough review on the device available on Konga from those that currently owns and use the phone.
You definitely have a choice on what phone you use, the only way to know about GENESYS is by using one or talking to someone who currently owns one. Having a feeling is not a realistic way for anyone that is logical to judge the phone.
No one should condemn a phone they have never even used. I know for a fact that iLand genesys is incredible. I honestly don’t know why it’s still sold so cheap. I suggest you buy the phone now because soon it wil become so expensive and you will feel like kicking yourselr for not buying it now.

The 2400mAh battery wont last more than a day of intensive usage. if you want your battery to last, you need to look at ways to reduce battery consumption on that device.
I got one last two weeks I’m still enjoying it can tell u that the phone is very good I’m liking it as e de go
I got the genesys 2 last week from konga and I’m finding it difficult to rate this device it has nice specs and design but the battery is something else…. it takes forever to charge and few minutes to drain on very light usage (browse using 2G network) in fact since I got the device it has Never charged fully to 100% highest I have seen is 56% which dropped almost immediately to 34% and that’s after charging for 5 hours straight ….I have used solar, big and small generator , NEPA light to charge the device still same result… it’s absurd to think I was tempted to buy the device because of the 3000mah I saw advertised online…
well I used the phone for almost a year not until I lost it last week. It a very strong phone, it fallen do much yet still standing. the camera is far more better than the ones with big names with the price it worth it. it a very beautiful phone that I could bold carry anywhere and it very light. The only issue was the battery (which I was able to solve by using battery saver, check setting under battery). I wanted to get another one but couldn’t get from Konga.
Well, am using iland genesys and can testify that it quite strong and for the durability of the battery, it is certain that once your data is on it drains battery faster, and this is applicable to other brand of phones. I will advise ,you get a battery . saver
I am having issues on hearing the caller very well and the battery is very difficult to charge and easy to drain. For now it is not charging any longer. Where can I take it to for a check.
