Tecno Boom J8 with 2GB RAM, HiOS UI, 3000mAh Battery

Tecno Mobile has announced the Tecno Boom J8 – successor to the music-centric Boom J7 smartphone. Several retail outlets including 3C HUB have the device on sale for a price tag of starting around N40,000 (up to N45,000). Available colour options are Champagne Gold, Space Grey and Super White.

The Tecno Boom J8 is the first device to run Tecno's signature OS - the HiOS UI, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

The 5.5-inch Tecno Boom J8 follows the path of the Boom J7 but brings a better design and much more improved user experience. It has a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD), measures 153.3 x 76.84 x 7.3 mm in dimensions and is packed in a plastic body with metallic frames. ‎

One of the USP of the Boom Series is the music centric features and the Boom J8 is no different. The device has the ‎Boom Player 2.1, Boom Maxx Audio, Boom Headphone and Perfect Mega Bass. It also comes with a Gesture Quick Start which launches the music player whenever you really want it.

Under the hood, the Dual SIM enabled Boom J8 relies on a 64-bit quad-core Mediatek MT6735 processor along with Mali-T720 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space. For additional storage space, there is a microSD card slot for expansion up to 128GB.

The Tecno Boom J8 is the first device to run Tecno’s signature OS – the HiOS UI, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. The new UI sees users have more command options such as the Hi app manager and one-touch Memory Free up button as well as ‎themes, offline and online wall papers and font styles.‎

For photography,there is a front facing 5-megapixels camera with Soft Selfie Flash and a rear facing 13-megapixels with LED flash. Connectivity options available includes 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct and micro USB v2.0.

The Tecno Boom J8 is backed by a non-removable 3000mAh Li-ion battery with support for quick charging (15 minutes of charge from 0-percent promises up to 8 hours of talk time) and Ultra Low Power Mode for conserving extra battery.
