Reliance Retail has announced a new 4G smartphone in the LYF series – the LYF Water 5. The 5-inch device joins others in the line with support for VoLTE and is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. It is priced at Rs 11,699 (US$ 176), comes in Black colour option and sales is exclusive to Amazon.in.
Measuring 142 x 70.5 x 7.7 mm in dimensions and weighing in at 136 grams; the LYF Water 5 sports a 5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) screen resolution and ASAHI Dragontrail glass protection. There is no fingerprint scanner on the rear, but it is also covered with glass.
Under the hood, it relies on a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU for graphics, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. Connectivity options includes – 4G LTE + VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
In the camera aspect, the LYF Water 5 has a rear facing 13MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies and video chats. The device has Dual SIM slots (micro + nano) and is backed by a 2920mAh battery which is expected to deliver up to 19 hours of music playback time.
