ASUS ZenFone GO TV with built-in TV chip costs US$169

Despite reports that the Zenfone 3 Family is scheduled to launch at the Computex 2016 later this month, ASUS has gone ahead to announce a new smartphone in the Zenfone 2 Family, a Zenfone Go variant actually with built-in TV chip. Dubbed the ASUS Zefone Go TV, the phablet is already available in Taiwan for a price tag of NT $ 5,490 (US$ 169) in Black, Blue and White colour options.

The ASUS Zenfone Go TV differs from other Zenfone Go devices because of the built-in TV Chip which makes it a target for media related consumption. The device uses a built-in Sony’s flagship SMT-EW100 digital TV chip and supports a variety of global digital TV signals including TVDVB-T2 / DVB-T2 Lite / DVB-T / ISDB-T, etc

Viewing on the device is done on a 5.5-inch display with (1280 x 720 pixels) HD screen resolution on relies on the rather old Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with four A7 cores clocked at 1.2GHz and Adreno 305 graphics. The device packs 2GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage space, Dual Micro SIM slots, a microSD card slot and backed by a 3010mAh battery with 335 hours of standby time on 3G.

For photography, there is a rear facing 13MP AF camera with PixelMaster technology, dual-color Real Tone flash and f/2.0 aperture while the front camera is a 5MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The Asus Zenfone Go TV supports 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks as well as WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, USB 2.0, Bluetooth V4.0 and Wi-Fi direct connectivity options.
