Samsung EVO Plus 256GB MicroSD card costs $250

Samsung has just unveiled a new microSD card which tops the 200GB card from SanDisk called the Samsung EVO Plus 256GB. The South Korean company hails the new microSD card as the ‘highest capacity in its class’ and it works seamlessly on premium mobile devices (smartphone and tablet), 360-degree video recorders, action cameras, and drones.

Using Samsung’s V-NAND technology, the Samsung EVO Plus 256GB has a capacity to save up to 55,200 photos, 23,500 MP3 files/songs or 12 hours of 4K UHD video. It is also claimed to support up to 33 hours of full HD video or 46 hours of HD video before requiring a replacement. It offers fast read speed of 95MB/s and writes speed of 90MB/s and is placed in a speed class of UHS-1, Class 10.

The card is protected from water (IEC 60529, IPX7), Temperature, X-ray and Magnetic rays. It also has a 10-year limited warranty, costs $249.99 in 50 countries around the world including China, Europe and the US. It will the stores by June 2016.

Commenting on the launch, Senior Vice President of Brand Product Marketing, Memory Business at Samsung Electronics, Un-Soo Kim said:
