Detailed Review Of The Blackberry Passport surfaces ahead of official launch

Barely days after we got our hands on full specifications of the Blackberry Passport, a detailed review has surfaced courtesy of the guys at Mobilenet.cz. The mobile phone was on display in the Czech Republic and they took the opportunity to review the next smartphone coming from Blackberry.

The Blackberry passport is one unique device coming from the canadian company. The phone has an aspect ratio of 1:1 which translates to the 1440 x 1440 pixels resolution sitting on a 4.5-inch LCD display with a pixel density of 443ppi. Under the hood is a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Soc clocked at 2.2GHz with Adreno 330 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The display is protected from scratch and likes with a Gorilla Glass 3.

On the rear is a 13MP autofocus camera with OIS and f/2.0 aperture capable of 1080p video recording. Connectivity options include Slimport, NFC, Bluetooth, LTE and Wi-Fi. The SlimPort is said to be compatible with micro USB and through reductionis compatible with USB 3.0, DisplayPort, DVI, VGA and HDMI.

The Blackberry Passport measures 128 in height, 90.3 in width and 9.3/9.6mm in thickness depending on the thickness around the camera and weighs 194.4grams. To operate the device with just one hand is not going to be an easy task due to its width but the phone manages to stay light despite its look. The back panel has a sleek leathery feel despite its steel frame. It has a 3450mAh battery but a proper batttery test was not carried ot to know its lasting usage.

One key feature also highlighted is the Blackberry Passport’s keyboard which also doubles as a touchpad. Another is being able to delete words quickly by swiping left; With a simple feature called recognition, allows you throw words from the predictive dictionary into text and host of other features.

Talking about the pricing and availability, the device would be available in Europe by October and a price tag of CZK16,000 ($763 / €578 / N124,000) is touted. We just have to wait till the device launches to confirm details about the pricing.
