Samsung Z2 Tizen OS Smartphone Released in South Africa

‎Weeks after the official launch in India, Samsung has released the Samsung Z2 Tizen OS Smartphone in South Africa. The affordably priced entry-level smartphone is the first ever 4G LTE enabled Tizen-powered phone and is aimed at those moving up from feature phones or first time users.

Backed by a 1,500mAh battery, the ‎Samsung Z2 sports a 3.97-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA display, quad-core Spreadtrum processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB built-in storage space, a microSD card slot and runs Tizen OS 2.4. It is equipped with a 5MP main camera, front VGA (0.3MP) camera and 4G LTE support.

Commenting on the launch, Director of Integrated Mobility at Samsung Electronics South Africa, Craige Fleischer said;

“We are delighted to be able to bring Samsung’s much-awaited Z2 handset to the South African market; providing an affordable handset that has a range of fantastic attributes, not the least of which is its 4G capability. This alone puts it in the company of some of the best smartphones available today.”

The Tizen OS-powered Samsung Z2 is selling for a price tag of R1,099 ($79) on prepaid (sans contract). It is also available with plans on Vodacom ‎starting at R79 ($6) monthly for 24 months.
