Cat S50 Rugged 4G Android Smartphone with Quad-core SoC Launched

Cat Phones announced a new high-end rugged Android smartphone at the IFA 2014 for outdoors. The highlight of the smartphone is its dust resistance & water proof certification due to its IP67 ratings and is also Mil Spec 810G certified (Military Grade protection) for impact resistance i.e it can withstand being dropped onto concrete surfaces or a height of 46inches for up to 26 times.

Moving on to the specification details, the Cat S50 features a 4.7-inch 720p screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and wet-finger tracking. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 400 (MSM8926) processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of Internal storage with a microSD card slot for expansion purpose.

Moving to the camera specs, you get to see a 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a front facing VGA camera. The device supports standard connectivity options as well as support for 4G LTE connectivity. The Cat S50 runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and packs a 2630mAh battery. Cat also included a Cat App store with 1000+ hand picked apps, relevant to CAT users.

The Cat S50 is encased in Shock absorbent covers whilst also available in Slate and Forest colours for $499 in the US or €479 in Europe. The device would be hitting select stores Worldwide.
