Xiaomi Redmi 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 Pro Unveiled in China

Following the launch of the 5.7-inch Mi Note 2 and the bezel-less Mi MIX couple of days back, Xiaomi has announced the successor to the Redmi 3 and Redmi 3S – the Xiaomi Redmi 4 as expected in China. The mid-ranger arrives in 3 configurations – a standard model along with two others – an even cheaper edition (Redmi 4A) and a higher pro edition (Redmi 4 Pro).

All three – Redmi 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 Pro have a full metal unibody design (identical), Hybrid Dual SIM slots (Micro + Nano/microSD), 5MP front facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, 4G VoLTE support, Qualcomm processors and boot MIUI 8 (based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS).

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Standard

Priced at CNY 699 ($104), the Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS 2.5D Curved display and relies on a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with Adreno 505 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in expandable storage.

For photography, there is a rear 13MP facing camera with dual LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture and Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) alongside a 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. It is backed by a 4100mAh battery and features a fingerprint sensor at the back, just below the main camera.

Dark Gray, Gold and Silver are the available colour options.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro is a higher version of the Redmi 4 with similar specs but with noticeable differences. The processor has been upped to the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and RAM/storage has increased to 3GB/32GB respectively.

It features a FHD screen resolution, supports Full Netcom 3.0 (instead of the version 2.0 used on the Redmi 4A and Redmi 4) and the main camera also comes with Dual-Tone Dual LED flash. Like the Redmi 4, it will go on sale this Monday for a higher price tag of CNY 899 ($133).

Xiaomi Redmi 4A

The Xiaomi Redmi 4A is the cheapest of the trio with the same 5-inch HD display as the Redmi 4 but powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor coupled with Adreno 308 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage space. The device also features a 13MP main camera (positioned at the top-left side instead of central like the others) with a single LED flash.
