Dell and Intel Showcase the ‘Thinnest tablet in the World’; the Dell Venue 8 7000 Series at the IDF 2014

Intel and Dell at the Intel Developers Forum event in San Franciscohas announced the Venue 8 7000 Series Android tablet with 6mm thickness and touting it to be the ”Thinnest Tablet in the World”. In addition to its thinness, the tablet is also bring Intel’s RealSense Snapshot Camera into limelight and allows for the measurement of dimensional data.

The highlight of the Dell Venue 8 7000 Series Android is it measures 6mm in thickness and features a 8.4-inch 2560 x 1600 pixels OLED QHD display resulting in a pixel density of 359ppi. The device is powered by an Intel Atom Z3500 processor but no word on RAM and storage options. The device features a front facing 2MP camera for video calls and selfies and a three rear cameras – 8MP primary camera and two auxiliary camera for measuring depth and dimensions.

Asides the Wi-Fi variant of the Dell Venue 8 7000, Intel confirms an LTE model with Intel XMM 7260 LTE modem capable of reaching a LTE speed of 300Mbps. Dell also announced there would be a 10.1-inch variant of the tablet.

Other details, specs and features of the Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet was not revealed but the tablet would be available in time for the holiday season (around November) later this year.
