Google at a press event tomorrow in India, is set to announce smartphones under its new Initiative – the Android One. Indian OEMs Spice, Karbonn and Micromax had been announced as companies taking on the initiative with budget friendly smartphones under $100 expected from the companies.
As expected devices expected to be announced at the event have been trickling out in forms of leaks to the public – first of all is the Spice Android One Dream (Android One Dream UNO Mi 498). The device appeared briefly on Flipkart before being pulled down. Trust eagled eyed observers to save memoirs from the page, from there we gathered the expected specs from the device.
Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi 498
The Android One Dream UNO Mi 498 is expected to feature a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with Mali-400 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot (up to 32GB), 2MP front camera and 5MP rear camera with LED flash.
Other specs details includes – Dual-SIM functionality, GPS, WiFI, 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth, FM Radio, 35GB of Google Drive storage, Spice Cloud app with 10GB of storage, Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS and a 1700mAh battery. The Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi 498 is expected to be announced on Monday September 15th for Rs 6999 (around $115) on Flipkart.
Similarly, Karbonn and Micromax is expected to launch an Android One smartphone on the same day, with the former launching exclusively on Amazon.in and the latter on Snapdeal. The device as expected would feature a 4.5-inch display, Dual-SIM functionality, MicroSD cad slot and FM Radio and would all feature a $100 price tag.
