Rumour: Google to release three Snapdragon 835 powered Pixel phones in 2017

Following the global acceptance of the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones by Google, the search giant is expected to release three high-end Pixel smartphones this year. All three are reportedly manufactured, once again in partnership with HTC and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 (10nm) processor.

Rumour: Google to release three Snapdragon 835 powered Pixel phones in 2017

According to German Tech Site – Winfuture.De, the three smartphones are codenamed “Walleye”, “Muskie” and “Taimen” as seen in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) code with CPU model number – MSM8998 (Snapdragon 835) – the same used on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ as well as the Xiaomi Mi 6.

Walleye and Muskie are the sequel to the Pixel XL and regular Pixel (respectively), powered by last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Taimen is speculated to be a tablet or a phablet device bigger than the Pixel XL (above 5.5-inch). The new Pixel Smartphones will all feature premium features and speca, and are expected to arrive by fall 2017.

Also, earlier reports suggested that Google might also launch a budget smartphone but it will not bear the pixel branding. The device could be released under the Android One lineup in emerging markets like India and Nepal, and will not be sold in the US.
