Since the start of the year, the Galaxy J3 (2017) has launched under varying names when offered by US wireless carriers. The Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime is the latest variant to hit the shelves of T-Mobile and Metro PCS. The device is similar to the Galaxy J3 Emerge (Sprint, Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile) and the Galaxy Amp Prime 2 (Cricket Wireless).
Pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat OS, the Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, microSD card slot (up to 256GB) rear facing 5MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera for selfies and video chats. It relies on an octa-core Exynos 5750 processor and backed by a 2600mAh battery.
Postpaid customers can get the Galaxy J3 Prime for $6 down and $6 monthly for 24 months – this is equivalent to a full price of $150. It is also available to prepaid customers for $150 but the T-Mobile is offering a limited time instant discount of $75 on the device. Metro PCS is offering selling the Galaxy J3 Prime for $69 (discounted from $139.99) with no contract required.
