Samsung Galaxy S8 Active Surfaces In Live Images

Every year since the Galaxy S4, Samsung releases a rugged model of its flagship under the ‘Galaxy Active’ series. The South Korean company is already preparing the Active model of the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ which is rightfully called the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active and some models will be carried by AT&T.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is equipped with MIL-STD-810G (military standard) and IP68 (dust-and-water resistance) certification to withstand harsh environmental conditions. The easily configurable ‘Active Key’ button has been dropped in favour of Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant. Also, the underwater camera mode found on previous Galaxy Active models has been ditched too.

While the device has a bit of resemblance with the Galaxy S8/S8+, it is about 1.5 times thicker than the S8 (8mm) and depends on a bigger 4,000mAh battery like last year’s Galaxy S7 Active. The Galaxy S8 has a 3,000mAh battery and the Galaxy S8+ has a 3,500mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active sports a rather flat 5.8-inch AMOLED display with thick bezels to possibly protect the display and without the curved 3D glass edges on the side. It also comes with either an Exynos or Qualcomm high-end processor; 4GB RAM and boots Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
