FreedomPop Liberty – A 7-inch Android Phablet that costs $89

Making some of its popularity for selling other people’s tablet, FreedomPop has finally gotten into the hardware business and the company has taken no time in announcing its first Android tablet (Phablet). The device dubbed the FreedomPop Liberty, is a 7-inch Wi-Fi only Sub-$100 tablet that unsurprisingly comes with a $89 (N15,000 in Naira) price tag.

FreedomPop sells free mobile data and voice services to cost conscious consumers in the US and also sells refurbished Sprint devices. The FreedomPop Liberty features a 6.7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) Capactive touchscreen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor onboard, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, front (0.3MP) VGA camera, 4 MP rear camera, Wi-Fi, G-sensor, micro USB port, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and 2400 mAh battery.

Users of the FreedomPop Liberty would be able to send texts and make voice calls despite the tablet support Wi-Fi Only. Asides launching its own products, the company would still be selling refurbished devices alongside it own line of smartphones and tablets.

FreedomPop is launching the FreedomPop Frenzy in November which would basically have the same specs as the Liberty but would support 4G LTE connectivity and cost $99. The Frenzy would be followed in coming months by a $89 LTE Android Smartphonefrom the company.
