Official: Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A with 16MP Front Camera, Up to 4GB RAM

Popular Chinese device maker, Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi Note 5A in China, as expected. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, which is the successor to last year’s Redmi Note 4, ‎comes in two variants: Standard and Prime, and emphasis is placed on the quality of selfies and lasting battery life.

‎The standard Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and packs 2GB of RAM along with 16GB built-in storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD) and front facing 5MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. An Infrared Sensor is also onboard to control home appliances.

The Redmi Note 5A Prime edition is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor along with 3GB of RAM with 32GB built-in storage or 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The front camera here is a 16MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash and 76.4-degree wide-angle lens. Along with the Infrared sensor, it has a rear fingerprint sensor.

Either model of the device has a 5.5-inch HD display (with 2.5D glass on the Prime model), rear 13MP camera with PDAF, LED flash, and f/2.2 aperture, Dual SIM slots (2 + 1 card tray design), 3,080 mAh battery and boots Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS with MIUI 8.5.1 (upgradable to MIUI 9).

Pricing for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A starts at CNY 699 (US$ 104) for the 2GB RAM model. The Prime edition starts at CNY 899 (US$ 134) for the 3GB RAM model while the higher 4GB RAM option will cost CNY 1,199 (US$ 180). Sales is expected to commence tomorrow (August 22nd) and the available colour options are: Champagne Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum Silver.
