Qualcomm has introduced a new mobile platform with a number of high-end features to its 600-tier platform. Dubbed the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform, the new chipset is built using the 14nm FInFET process and brings significant increases in performance, gaming and display technology.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform features 8x Qualcomm Kryo 260 CPU cores clocked up to 1.8GHz and paired with Adreno 509 GPU. It delivers up to 40-percent increase in device performance and boost both gaming and browsing performance by up to 10-percent more when compared to the 8x Cortex A53 cores and Adreno 508 GPU when compared to the Snapdragon 630 mobile platform.
It features support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0, Qualcomm Hexagon 680 DSP, Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec (up to 192kHz / 24bit Hi-Fi audio support), 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP and Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 LTE modem (up to 600 Mbps peak downloads speed).
The Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform also support for ultra wide (2160 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 18:9 FullView displays and Assertive Display, up to RAM, capture of up to 24MP with zero shutter lag, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB 3.1. It is pin and software-compatible with the Snapdragon 660 and 630 Mobile Platforms, and expected to ship to customers in November 2017.
