The Sharp AQUOS R compact is the latest smartphone to join Sharp’s AQUOS line-up for the year. The compact model of the high-end Sharp AQUOS R‎ could easily pass for ‎the Essential Phone (PH-1) or Apple iPhone X due to the small notch on the center top for the front camera. Provision for the notch was created using Sharp’s IGZO-based FFD (Free Form Display) technology.

Pre-loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo OS with EMOPA 7.0 on top, the Sharp AQUOS R compact ‎sports a 4.9-inch (2032 x 1080 pixels) FHD+ IGZO LCD (edge-to-edge) display with a high 120GHz refresh rate (same as the Apple iPad Pro). ‎It is water and dust resistant (IP6X and IPX5 / IPX8‎) and housed the fingerprint sensor in the home button.

The smartphone relies on an ‎octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space (expandable up to 256GB via microSD). For photography, the device flaunts a rear 16.4MP camera with Phase Detection AF, Contrast AF and dual-tone LED alongside a front 8MP camera.
