Sony and VAIO have already parted ways but this hasn’t stopped the now Japanese owned company from revealing new products into the market. The company has announced a new tablet PC concept dubbed the VAIO Prototype Tablet PC at the 2014 Adobe Max event.
VAIO Prototype Tablet PC
The 12.3-inch display sized VAIO Prototype Tablet PC which fits a perfect alternative to the SurfacePro 3; is powered by an an Intel SoC and has a removable keyboard which can be attached or removed to suit the user. The keyboard also complements the device being used as a notebook and protects the screen when not in use.
The device features a 12.3-inch (2560 x 1704 pixels) resolution display; the screen is said to offer over 95% Adobe RGB color gamut coverage and Digital Pen support. The VAIO Prototype Tablet PC is powered by an Intel Quad-Core chipset with Intel Iris Pro graphics.
Other features includes – HDMI output, Mini DisplayPort, two USB 3.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port, 3.5mm Audio Jack (audio output) and a micro SDXC card slot. The VAIO Prototype Tablet PC is linked back to the Sony Vaio Tab 11 which featured a removable wireless keyboard and digital stylus pen.
The VAIO Prototype Tablet PC is expected to cost around 200,000 Yen above (about $1827 upwards) and if it ever gets to hit the shelves it might be limited to Japan only.
