India’s biggest online store, Flipkart has joined the hardware train with the launch of its first ever smartphone under its in-house Billion brand. The ’Made For India’ Flipkart Billion Capture+ is entirely ‘Made in India’ and will go on sale next week (November 15) exclusively on the website.
Available in Desert Gold and Mystic Black colours, the Flipkart Billion Capture+ sports a 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display with Asahi Dragontrail glass protection, USB Type-C port and 3,500mAh battery that promises up to 2 days of battery life. It also supports Quick Charging which ensures battery lasts up to 7 hours with only 15 minutes of charge.
Internally, it comes pre-loaded with Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS which will be upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo, and relies on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with either 3GB of RAM plus 32GB built-in storage or 4GB RAM plus 64GB built-in storage. Both internal storage options are expandable up to 128GB via microSD.
For photography, the Flipkart Billion Capture+ features 13MP (RGB) + 13MP (Monochrome) dual rear cameras with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and Dual-tone LED flash, and front facing 8MP camera also with f/2.0 aperture. The fingerprint scanner sits well above the Capture+ inscription on the back.
Pricing for the Billion Capture+ starts at INR 10,999 (US$ 169) for the 3GB RAM variant and INR 12,999 (US$ 200) for the 4GB RAM variant. According to Flipkart, there are 130 service centers in 125 cities and towns across India.
