Samsung Quietly Outs Exynos 9 Series 9810 with Gigabit LTE Modem

Samsung’s Exynos division ‎has quietly unveiled its latest high-end processor – the Exynos 9 Series 9810. The new SoC, which was found on the company’s press release for the CES 2018 Innovation Awards, is expected to power some variants of next year’s Samsung flagship – the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus.

Positioned as the successor to the Exynos 9 Series 8895, which powered international variants of the Galaxy S8 series and Galaxy Note 8, the Exynos 9 Series 9810 is manufactured using the 2nd-generation10nm process technology and features 3rd-generation custom CPU cores alongside an upgraded GPU and ‎Gigabit LTE (Cat. 18) modem with industry-first 6CA support.

According to Samsung, 6CA (Carrier Aggregation) technology in the 9810 will allow for download speeds up to 1.2Gbps, which can download full-length HD movies in 10 seconds. For comparison sake, the Cat. 16 LTE modem on the 8895 reaches up to 1Gbps download speed using 5CA technology.

Samsung is expected to reveal the specifications of the Exynos 9 Series 9810 in time for the CES 2018 (9 – 12 Jan 2018) and mass production is scheduled for early 2018.
