As stated by Evan Blass (@evleaks) for VentureBeat, the Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G960) and Galaxy S9 Plus (SM-G965) are both known internally with their codenames – Star 1 and Star 2. The duo will both retain the same body design and display size (5.8-inch and 6.2-inch) from their predecessor – the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

Internally, the Galaxy S9 series will bring some hardware upgrades such as a more powerful processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9 Series 9810 10nm SoC for the global version), built-in AKG stereo speakers and better fingerprint sensor location.

Additionally, the Galaxy S9 Plus will have a dual rear camera setup similar to the Galaxy Note 8 and pack 6GB of RAM (compared to 4GB RAM on the original Galaxy S9). Both devices will have a 64GB built-in storage space, 3.5 mm headphone jack and microSD card slot.

Samsung is also said to be working on a backward-compatible DeX docking station, which lies the phone flat and use the screen as either a touchpad or a virtual keyboard. Despite this earlier than usual tease, Samsung is expected to still follow the routine March launch and April release schedule s it did for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
