Sony Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact Surfaces with 18:9 Display, SD845 SoC

Ahead of the immnent Moblie World Congress 2018 event, Sony’s new high-end smartphones – the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact have surfaced in leaks. The duo will come pre-loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo OS and have a nearly bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 finish.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 sports an aluminium body frame with 3D glass on the front and rear, a large 5.7-inch LCD display with one of the highest screen-to-body ratio from any Sony smartphone ever and a 3,180mAh battery with wireless charging and wired charging via USB Type-C.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact has a non-scratch polycarbonate body finish, smaller 5.0-inch LCD display and a 2,70mAh battery with wired charging. As with the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra from the CES, the fingerprint sensor has been moved from the home button to the rear part of the device.

Photography will be handled by the same camera as the Xperia XZ Premium – a rear facing 19MP, f/1.9 camera with support for 4K HDR recording and super-slow motion capture in 1080p Full HD resolution. There are likely to be some changes in the camera of the Xperia XZ2 Compact.

Both models have front-facing ‘S Force’ stereo speakers (the Xperia XZ2 has additional haptic feedback system) and are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, which will also power some variants of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus.

We will have to tune in to the event live on February 26th by 8:30 m to learn more about these new Sony smartphones and all they have to offer at the MWC.
