Official: Huawei Y9 (2018) With 18:9 Display, Dual Front and Rear Cameras

Huawei has added a new mid-range smartphone to its Y series portfolio. The Huawei Y9 (2018) went official today in Thailand with highlights such as edge-to-edge displays, dual front and/or rear camera setup, found on a number of existing and upcoming smartphones in the market.

The 7.9mm thick Huawei Y9 (2018) is built around a 5.93-inch (2160 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ IPS LCD FullScreen display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone has the same camera setup as the Huawei Mate 10 Lite i.e a 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras and the 16MP + 2MP dual front cameras.

Internally, it will be powered by the in-house produced octa-core Kirin 659 processor (found on mid-ranger like the Honor 9 Lite, Mate 10 Lite, P Smart, Honor 7X and Enjoy 7S). The SoC will be paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD.

The Huawei Y9 (2018) has a rear fingerprint scanner, Dual SIM slots, runs Android 8.0 Oreo OS with EMUI 8.0 on top and depends on a massive 4,000mAh battery.

Meanwhile, Huawei is expected to launch new P series smartphones – P20 Lite, P20 and P20 Pro, later this month with 18:9 FullScreen displays, top front notch design, LEICA-co developed lens and Android Oreo OS with Emotion UI (EMUI 8.0) on top.
