Huawei’s Honor brand has a new budget smartphone with 18:9 FullView display currently on sale in its hme market. The Honor Play 7, as it is known, will arrive in Black, Blue and Golden colours starting May 22 for a very affordable price tag of CNY 599 (USD 94).
Backed by a lasting 3,020mAh battery, the Honor Play 7 sports a 5.45-inch IPS display with (1440 x 720 pixels) HD+ resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. On the inside, it is powered by an quad-core Mediatek MT6739 64-bit processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in expandable storage.
Photography is handled by a single rear facing 13MP camera with PDAF and LED flash alongside a front facing 5MP camera with LED flash. The smartphone also features a triple card slot (2x nano SIM + microSD), measures 146.5 x 70.9 x 8.3 mm and weighs 142 grams.
The Honor Play 7 boots EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo OS and supports 4G VoLTE as well as GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 LE and Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity options. Curiously, a new Honor 7S smartphone was certified by China’s TENAA few days back with similar specs but there is no word on this device yet.
PS: Huawei has also launched this smartphone as the Huawei Y5 Prime 2018. It has the same specs and should be available for around the same price.
