LG Electronics has officially introduced the LG Q7, successor to 2017’s LG Q6 series. It arrives in three different configurations: Q7, Q7+ and Q7α; and promises to deliver even more features such as DTS:X 3D Surround Sound, Portrait Mode and QLens in the same sleek, stylish and thin-bezeled body.

Built around the same 5.5-inch FHD+ FullVision 18:9 aspect ratio display as the Q6, the LG Q7 series sports a IP68-certified (water resistant) body with 2.5D Arc Glass design, rear fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C 2.0. It will arrive in Aurora Black, Lavender Violet and Moroccan Blue colours, and has also been MIL-STD 810G certified to withstand harsh environmental conditions.

On the inside, the Q7 series packs an octa-core processor (clocked up to 1.5GHz or 1.8GHz) and boots Android Oreo OS. The SoC is paired with 3GB RAM/32GB storage on the Q7 and Q7 α, while the higher-end Q7+ packs 4GB of RAM/64GB storage. All storage options are expandable up to 2TB via microSD.

In the camera segment, the Q7 and Q7α both feature a rear facing 13MP camera with PDAF while the Q7+ has a rear 16Mp camera with PDAF. The Q7α has a front facing 5MP Super Wide Angle camera while the Q7 and Q7+ models feature either a front facing 8MP or 5MP camera.

LG has also included two new features found on premium LG smartphones – Qlens and Potrait Mode. QLens helps the user to search for images or capture images and get more information on where to purchase them online while Potrait Mode allows the user capture selfies with blurred backgrounds.

The LG Q7 also offers DTS:X 3D Surround Sound to deliver virtual 3D surround sound and up to 7.1 channel audio through headphones. The higher-end LG Q7+ also comes equipped with Hi-Fi Quad DAC for richer sounds without distortion when paired with high quality earphones.

All three configs (Q7, Q7+ & Q7α) are backed by a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging support (charges up to 50 percent in 30 minutes). They will begin shipping to key markets in Europe starting early next month (June) followed by countries in the Americas and Asia. Pricing will be announced locally.
