About a year after the launch of the Galaxy Wide 2 (Galaxy J7 2017), Samsung has teamed up once again with SK Telecom to launch a new exclusive Galaxy Wide Series smartphone in South Korea. The Samsung Galaxy Wide 3 is currently on sale in the carrier’s home country for a price tag of KRW 297,000 (USD 276).
The Samsung Galaxy Wide 3 has the same 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, 1.6 GHz octa-Core processor, 2GB RAM and rear facing 13MP camera as its predecessor. It now comes pre-loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo OS and packs 32GB built-in storage (expandable up to 400GB via microSD).
It still supports 4G LTE networks but the front facing camera has also been upped to a 13MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and speaker output has doubled to 1.2W. The Galaxy Wide 3 also adds feaures such as Facial reconition (Face unlock), FM Radio and backed by the same 3,300mAh battery (non-removable).
SK Telecom went further to confirm both the Galaxy Wide and Galaxy Wide 2 have sold combined units of over 1.3 million. The Samsung Galaxy Wide 3 will arrive in Black and Silver colours.
Speaking on the launch, SK Telecom’s Smart Device Group head said;
We launched the ‘Galaxy Wide’ series, which has been solidly fandomed to customers by focusing on ‘stalled’ customers since launching in 2016. We will continue to strengthen our mid to low-end smartphone lineup so that we can provide our customers with high-quality products.
