Alongside the new Mi 8 flagship smartphones and other Mi products, Xiaomi unveiled the next version of its Android launcher – the MIUI 10. The Android ROM’s UI is now fully optimised for smartphones with high screen-to-body ratios and minimal bezels (fullscreen experience).
Xiaomi confirms the MIUI 10 is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Some of the AI features onboard includes AI Portraits and AI Preload. AI Portraits allows users take beautiful pictures with bokeh effects on phones without dual cameras and AI Preload reduces the load times for apps and UI functions.
There is also a redesigned recent apps menu with display gestures, a new car mode (driving mode), new voice commands and control function for smart home devices. The MIUI 10 (China Developer ROM) will be available later in June on all three Mi 8 variants, Mi MIX 2S, Mi MIX 2, Mi MIX, Mi 6X, Mi 6, Mi 5, Mi Note 2, Redmi S2 and Redmi Note 5.
It will arrive by late July on the Mi Note 3, Mi 5X, Mi 5c, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 4, Mi 4c, Mi 4S, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4X, Redmi 3S/Redmi 3X, Redmi Pro, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm/Redmi Note 4X, Redmi Note 4 MTK, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm.
