ZTE’s nubia brand at the recently concluded IFA 2018 in Berlin unveiled the nubia Z18 flagship and showcased its upcoming nubia-α wearable smartphone. It is scheduled to go on sale in China towards the end of the year and could also be available in select markets globally.
While the company hasn’t revealed detailed info about the nubia-α (pronounced – nubia Alpha), a teaser video has surfaced online giving an idea of what to expect from the wearable smartphone. It features a tall, fully foldable OLED display which wraps around the phone oe watch’s metal strap.
It is also designed in such a way that it is both light on the hand and comfortable to wear. The device packs a heart rate sensor and other fitness related features, proximity sensor to align the display in the best direction for usage, music player, microphone, speaker and built-in 4G LTE connectivity for voice calls and data.
There are two buttons on-board (one on either side) as well as pogo pins for charging and a smart camera for photography. It also runs a heavily customised version of Android. We expect the wearable smartphone’s detailed specs, pricing and availability to be released closer to the launch date.
