Recap: Huawei Watch 2 2018 With 4G eSIM, Voice Call Support

Back in June, Huawei launched the 2018 edition of the Huawei Watch 2, successor to last year’s Watch 2 in China. The key difference is the addition of eSIM support, which replaces the nano SIM on the original and lets the user make calls, send and receive text and 4G connectivity on apps.

The Huawei Watch 2 2018 maintains the same design and specs including the 1.2-inch circular AMOLED display with 390 x 390 pixels resolution , 768MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and relies on the over two-years old Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC. It comes with built-in GPS, heart rate monitor and tracks 8 kinds of exercise.

The Watch 2 2018 (e-SIM) is available from CNY 1,988 while the Bluetooth and nano SIM variants sell for CNY 1,888 and CNY 1,688 respectively.

For making contactless payment via Huawei Pay, the watch features a built-in NFC chip and two new sensors – Capacitance and Geomagnetic as well as the old Gyroscope, Compass and Barometer sensors. It has a ceramic bezel, various watchfaces, new crown design, IP68- rated (water and dust resistant) and the 420mAh battery lasts up to 1 day of usage on 4G but can be extended up to another 12 hours of use if 4G is deactivated.
