SHARP AQUOS Zero with OLED Display Debuts In Japan

Japan’s SHARP has announced plans to enter the OLED smartphone display industry to rival the likes of LG, Samsung, Sony and other manufacturers. The company also announced its first phone with an OLED display – the SHARP AQUOS Zero and promised more will come in the future.

The Sharp AQUOS Zero is built around a notched 6.2-inch OLED display with (2992 x 1440) QHD+ resolution and support for DCI-P3 color space and Dolby Vision. It has a magnesium alloy frame with Aramid fiber back panel, measures 154 x 73 x 8.8 mm in dimensions and weighs 146 grams.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB built-in storage (UFS). The AQUOS Zero is equipped with a single 22.6MP camera with f/1.9 aperture, a 8MP selfie camera with support for Face Unlock, rear fingerprint sensor, face unlock, Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos technology and a 3,000mAh battery. It is also IP68 certified (water and dust resistance).

The SHARP AQUOS Zero has a USB-C port (no 3.5mm audio jack) and adopts heat dissipation technology as well as parallel charging. It runs Android 9.0 Pie OS and will be available later this year in Japan.
