During the just concluded Made By Google event which saw the launch of new Google hardware products such as the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL and Pixel Slate, Xiaomi teamed up Google to debut its new Android TV 4K box – the Xiaomi Mi Box S.
The Xiaomi Mi Box S with Android TV 8.1 (Oreo) is the global model of the Mi Box 4, just as the original Mix Box is based on the Mi Box 3 (China). It comes with both Chromecast and Google Assistant built-in, and the remote has dedicated buttons for live TV, voice search and Netflix.
The set-top box has a slightly different design but retains the same internals as its predecessor. It packs a quad-core ARM Cortex A53 processor with Mali-450 GPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 8GB of eMMC storage. It supports 4K HDR at 60fps as well as Dolby digital plus and DTS sound.
There is also Bluetooth 4.2, 1x USB 2.0 port, 1x HDMI 2.0A port and 1x audio out port. The Xiaomi Mi Box S is available for pre-order on Walmart for $59.99 and shipping which should commence on October 19 has now been shifted to begin from November 1st.
