Nike has announced the launch of its latest app-controlled, self-lacing sneakers – the Nike Adapt BB. It is the successor to Nike’s limited Hyper Adapt 1.0 (2016) and descendant of the ‘Nike Mag’, a replica of the ones used in the 1989 movie – “Back to the Future Part II.”
The Nike Adapt BB (BB stands for BasketBall) is equipped with an advanced power-lacing system called ‘FitAdapt‘, a mobile app and promise of future firmware updates. The sneakers uses this platform to automatically adjust the power laces according to the player’s movement.
The power laces can also be adjusted via the mobile app and manually using the physical button on the sneakers. Players will be able to select various fit settings over the course of a game (warm-up, pre-game and post-game) and also choose different LED colours for the sneakers.
Priced at US$ 350, the Nike Adapt BB is available for pre-order and will arrive starting February 17. It also comes bundled with a wireless charging mat, USB-C cable and wall plug. The shoes are available in Men’s 8 to 14 and Women’s 9.5 to 15.5.
