The Xiaomi Mi 9 and Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition are the latest additions to the company’s smartphone portfolio. The Mi 9 flagship is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm Mobile Platform with 4th-gen AI Engine, Game Turbo and boots MIUI 10 (based on Android 9.0 Pie).
The Xiaomi Mi 9 sports a 6.39-inch 19.5:9 Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, 90.7% screen to body ratio, 3.6mm narrow chin (about 40% less than the Mi 8) and an optical in-display fingerprint sensor, which is 25% faster than the previous generation.
For photography, the smartphone has a triple camera setup which includes a primary 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.75, 6-element lens, 12MP Samsung S5K3M5 sensor with f/2.2, 6-element lens for 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom, and a 16MP Sony IMX481 117-degree ultra-wide angle sensor. All the cameras have Laser AF, PDAF and CAF with closed-loop VCM.
The camera has features such as Supermoon mode, 960fps video capture, improved night mode and advanced motion tracking video mode. The Mi 9 packs either 6GB or 8GB of RAM paired with 128GB storage (UFS 2.1) while the Transparent Edition packs 12GB of RAM with 256GB storage.
Under light reflection, the phone uses nano-level laser engraving holographic technology and dual layer nano coating to glow in different colours. The Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition has a transparent back design and the front notch on both models houses the 20MP (f/2.0) selfie camera.
The Mi 9 is backed by a 3,300mAh battery with wired (27W) and wireless (20W) fast charging. It is expected to go on sale starting February 26 in China. Pricing details is listed below.
