Recently, Realme, OPPO, Honor, Vivo and Xiaomi released new Android smartphones with Android 9 Pie. The Realme 3 Pro, OPPO A9, Honor 8S, Honor 8A Pro, Vivo Y17 and Xiaomi Redmi Y3 all have differing features varying from HD+ to FHD+ screen resolution, Mediatek to Qualcomm processors, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB built-in storage and up to 5,000mAh battery capacity.
Realme 3 Pro
OPPO’s spinoff brand, Realme has just launched the Realme 3 Pro to take on Xiaomi’ s Redmi Note 7 Pro. It packs a 6.3-inch FHD+ LCD display with a tiny waterdrop notch and Gorilla Glass 5 protection, front 25MP selfie with f/2.0 aperture and 16MP (Sony IMX519) f/1.7 + 5MP f/2.4 dual rear cameras with 960fps slo-mo and an ultra HD mode to capture up images to 64MP (i.e 4 x 16MP shots).
Internally, the phone is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 mobile platform paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB built-in expandable storage. It boots ColorOS 6 (based on Android 9 Pie), runs Fortnite Mobile and PUBG on high settings by default, and depends on a 4,045mAh battery with VOOC 2.0 Fast charging (20W or 5V/4A). The Realme 3 Pro arrives in Carbon Gray, Lighting Purple and Nitro Blue colours and pricing starts at INR 13,999 for the 4GB + 64GB model and INR 16,999 for the 6GB + 128GB model.

OPPO A9
The OPPO A9 has been listed up on OPPO’s official channels in the Chinese market ahead of its April 30th sales date. Available in 3D curved glass backplate and three gradient colours – Green, Purple and White, the smartphone boots Color OS 6.0 with Gameboost 2.0 and is powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 octa-core processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB built-in storage.
Photography is handled by a front 16MP (f/2.0) selfie camera and 16MP + 2MP dual rear cameras with PDAF and AI scene recognition. The A9 has a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with 90.70% screen to body ratio, rear fingerprint sensor and depends on a 4,020mAh battery with fast charging. The only available 6GB + 128GB model is priced at CNY 1,799.
Honor 8S and Honor 8A Pro
Huawei’s Honor brand has two new smartphones in Russia – the Honor 8S and Honor 8A Pro. Priced at RUB 8490 and RUB 13,990 respectively, both phones have a single 13MP rear camera, long lasting 3,020mAh battery and arrive in Black, Blue and Gold colour options. The 8S has a 5.71-inch HD+ curved glass display, 5MP selfie camera and face unlock while the 8A Pro has a 6.09-inch FHD+ display, rear fingerprint sensor and 8MP selfie camera.
The Honor 8A Pro is backed by the Mediatek Helio P35 (MT6765) octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB built-in storage while the Honor 8S is equipped with the Mediatek Helio A22 quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage. Both come pre-loaded with EMUI 9 (based on Android 9 Pie).
Vivo Y17
The highlight of the new Vivo Y17 is its 5,000mAh battery with the company’s 18W dual-engine fast charging technology. The smartphone is also equipped with AI triple rear cameras with 13MP (f/2.2) main sensor, 8MP (f/2.2) super wide-angle sensor and 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor, rear fingerprint sensor and a front 20MP (f/2.0) selfie camera with AI face beauty in the waterdrop notch.
The rest of the specs includes 6.35-inch HD+ LCD HaloView display with 89% screen-to-body ratio, Mediatek Helio P35 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB built-in storage and Bluetooth 5.0. Game lovers can take advantage of the Ultra Game mode with features such as Competition Mode and Dual Turbo. It arrives in Purple and Blue Colours.
Xiaomi Redmi Y3
Xiaomi unveiled its new Redmi branded smartphone – the Redmi Y3 at a special event in India. The device has 6.26-inch HD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, plastic body build with P2i water-repellent nano-coating, rear fingerprint sensor, and a 4,000mAh battery. It is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 mobile platform paired with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB built-in storage space.
The Redmi Y3 has a 12MP +2MP dual rear cameras and a single 32MP (f/2.0) AI selfie camera, AI Potrait selfie and 4-in-1 Super Pixel technology. The smartphone is available in Bold Red, Elegant Blue and Prime Black colours and priced at INR 9,999 for the 3GB + 32GB model while the higher 4GB + 64GB model sells from INR 11,999.
