Qualcomm Technologies unveiled new additions to its Snapdragon 6 and 7 series – the Snapdragon 665, Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G mobile platforms. All three are targeted at high mid-tier and mid-tier devices with focus on delivering premium and in-demand features in Artificial Intelligence (AI), camera (photography and video), gaming, power and performance.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G Mobile Platforms
Manufactured using the 8nm process, the Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G Mobile Platforms borrows some of the elements of the high-end Snapdragon 855 mobile platform. Both are equipped with 8x Qualcomm Kryo 470 CPU cores clocked up to 2.2GHz paired with Adreno 618 GPU, Hexagon 688 Processor, Snapdragon X15 LTE modem, Wi-Fi 6 ready, up to QHD+ display resolution and 4th-gen, multi-core Qualcomm AI Engine with Qualcomm Hexagon Tensor Accelerator.
The Snapdragon 730 mobile platform is engineered to deliver twice the AI performance, 25-percent faster graphics rendering and 53-percent increase in CPU performance when compared to the Snapdragon 710 mobile platform. For gaming-focused features including True HDR10 mobile gaming, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G mobile platform is equipped with the Snapdragon Elite Gaming and the Adreno 618 GPU on here is enhanced to perform 15-percent better than the Snapdragon 730.
Both chipsets align with the Qualcomm Spectra 350 ISP with Computer Vision ISP (CV-ISP) to deliver features such as 4K HDR video capture with Portrait Mode, Cinemagraph Video and HD slo-mo video at 960fps. They support up to 22MP dual camera, up to 36MP/48MP single camera and up to 192MP snapshot. The rest of the specs include – Bluetooth 5.0, NFC support, DIsplayPort over the USB Type-C support and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Mobile Platform
Manufactured using the 11nm FinFET process technology, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Mobile Platform packs eight Qualcomm Kryo 260 CPU cores with clock speed up to 2.0GHz. It is engineered to deliver 2x the speed of Snapdragon 660 and comes with Qualcomm Adreno 610 GPU with Vulkan 1.1, Qualcomm Hexagon 686 DSP, Hexagon Vector eXtensions (HVX), Qualcomm Spectra 165 ISP and 3rd-gen Qualcomm AI Engine.
The mobile platform supports triple camera setup at a maximum resolution up to 48MP as well as features such as Portrait Mode and Low Light Night Mode. The Qualcomm Spectra 165 ISP uses the AI engine to deliver features such as Hybrid Autofocus, Zero Shutter Lag and more. The rest of the specs includes up to FHD+ (2560 x 1080 pixels) resolution, up to 8GB LPDDR3/LPDDR4 RAM, Bluetooth 5.0, Qualcomm X12 LTE Modem and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
