The Oppo R5 succeeds the Oppo R3 smartphone, the body frame is made from 3D welded aluminium, measures 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.85mm and weighs 155 grams. The company has also created a special cooling effect from liquid-metal and phase-changing materials to take away the heat.

Moving to the specs, the Oppo R5 features a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a pixel density of 423ppi. Under the hood is a 64-Bit Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor which clocks at 1.5GHz with Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

The device runs on Color OS 2.0 based on Android 4.4 (KitKat), a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front-facing camera, 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC 2000mAh battery with VOOC Rapid Charge.

To make the Oppo R5 very slim, the company had to forgo a microSD card slot and a audio jack which means users have to use a USB to audio adapter or Bluetooth Headset. However the Oppo R5 might not be the slimmest smartphone available for long.

The Oppo R5 would be available in Silver and Grey colour option and has a price tag of ¥2999/US$499 in December. It would be available in Limited Gold Edition in the nearest future.
