Sharp Aquos R3 Debuts in Japan with 120Hz Refresh Rate, Dual Notch

Last year, Sharp Mobile launched the Aquos R2 compact with two notches – a circular notch at the top to shelter the 16.3MP (f/2.0) selfie camera and another wider notch at the bottom to house the fingerprint scanner. The Japanese multinational company has used the same design on the its latest flagship – the Sharp Aquos R3.

Available in Elegant Green, Luxury Red, Platinum White, Pink Amethyst and Premium Black colours, the Sharp Aquos R3 has a 6.2-inch Quad HD+ Pro IGZO LCD display with HDR10 support and 120Hz refresh rate like that on the Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2. It has a USB Type-C port, comes pre-loaded with Android 9 Pie and depends on a 3,200mAh battery with support for 11W Qi wireless charging.

The smartphone is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform with 6GB of RAM and 128GB built-in storage (expandable up to 512GB via microSD). Photography is handled by a dual rear camera setup which include a primary 12.2MP (f/1.7) camera with LED flash, OIS and 78-degree wide-angle lens and 20.1MP (f/2.4) secondary camera with 125-degree ultra-wide lens and 4-in-1 pixel binning for shooting videos.

The rest of the specs includes 4G LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS with GLONASS and Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The Sharp Aquos R3 will be on sale via NTT DoCoMo and Softbank but no word on both pricing and global availability.
