Recap: Vivo Apex 2020 and Vivo Z6 5G Smartphones Unveiled

Vivo unveiled two new smartphones – the Vivo Apex 2020 concept flagship and the Vivo Z6 5G is mid-range model with the obvious 5G connectivity. The former will not get into production, however, some of the features will trickle down to the next-gen NEX smartphones while the Z6 5G is on sale for CNY 2,298 (6GB + 128GB) and CNY 2,598 (8GB + 128GB) respectively.

Vivo Apex 2020

The Apex 2020 sports a 6.54-inch FHD+  FullView ultra-curved display which wraps around both sides of the body (thanks to its 120-degree curve), side-placed virtual pressure sensitive buttons (no physical ones), Rico’s Gen 3 Soundcasting technology and includes supports 60W wireless fast charging, which the company details to charge a 2,000mAh battery from 0 to 100 in 20 minutes.

The phone features an under-screen 16MP selfie camera which only appears when in use. The dual-lens rear camera setup includes a primary 48MP periscope camera with quad-directional OIS – this provides 200% increase in performance compared to standard OIS solutions. The other 16MP telephoto camera uses 4-group lens combination to offer continuous optical zoom from 5x to 7.5x.

In comparison with real-life phone, the Huawei P30 Pro offers 5x optical zoom, and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra offers 4x optical zoom. It is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mobile platform and should offer 5G connectivity.

Vivo Z6 5G

The Z6 5G is the successor to last year’s Vivo Z5 with 48MP +8MP + 2MP triple camera setup and Snapdragon 712 SoC. It packs a punch hole display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, PC-grade liquid cooling for heat dissipation, AI-powered quad rear camera setup with LED flash, Dual Mode 5G connectivity and rear fingerprint sensor. Power is supplied by a 5,000mAh battery with 44W FlashCharge fast charging technology.
