Nokia N1 Android tablet announced With 7.9-inch Display and Android 5.0 Lollipop

In what is a surprise move by the company, Nokia has announced a new Android top notch tablet with high end specs, runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nokia Z Launcher on top. The struggling Finnish company which sold its mobile version to Microsoft has been rumoured in recent weeks to return to the market with a new product.

Moving to the specs, the Nokia N1 packs a 7.9-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) IPS LED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and fully laminated zero air gap display. Under the hood is a 64-Bit Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor which clocks at 2.3GHz with PowerVR G6430 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage.

On the rear is a 8MP AF camera and a front facing 5MP FF camera. Connectivity options on the device includes – Dual channel 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0 and is said to be among the first devices to feature a Micro-USB 2.0 with a Type-C reversible connector.

Other features includes – dual stereo speakers with audio level of 90 deciBels (dB), Bluetooth Keyboard and other Bluetooth peripherals. The device is said to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with the Nokia Z-Launcher on top; the launcher is said to be available for free on Google Play Store.

The Nokia N1 has been scheduled to launch in China by the First Quarter of 2015 (Q1 2015) for a $249 (excluding taxes) price tag in Silver and Gray colour option. Since Africa as a whole is a Nokia loving environment we expect the tablet to debut in Nigeria, South Africa and other markets at a later date.
