Lenovo has finally unveiled its new 5G gaming smartphone – the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel (called the Lenovo Legion Phone Pro in China). Launched in similar vein to the company’s Legion series of gaming laptops, smartphones under the brand will offer sub-6 5G connectivity (in select markets) and several high-end gaming features.

Alongside the ASUS ROG Phone 3, the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel was one of the first set of devices confirmed to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus mobile platform. It is fitted with a 6.65-inch Full HD+ AMOLED glass touchscreen display with 144Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate; offers either 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and either 256GB or 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The device is backed by two 2,500mAh batteries placed sideways and equipped with dual liquid-cooling and copper tubes for better heat dissipating. There are two USB Type-C charging ports (side and center) to power up the 5,000mAh battery and the Full 90W Turbo Power Charger lets it go from 0 to 50% in 10 minutes and 100% in 30 minutes. A full charge delivers 24 hours of normal usage.

The main dual rear camera setup consists of a primary 64MP (f/1.89, 80° FOV, 6P, Dual LED flash) camera paired with a secondary 16MP (f/2.2, 120° FOV) ultrawide camera while the 20MP (f/2.2, 81.7° FOV) selfie camera pops-out from side. Amazing audio and sound quality will be delivered by 4x noise-cancelling microphones and dual front-facing stereo speakers with large 1.4cc acoustics chambers.

For the best viewing experience during gaming and other usage, there is a dedicated horizontal mode as well as home, landscape, and portrait modes. The RGB lighting in the recognisable Legion’s Y icon and selfie camera back can be programmed to glow high-octane red or cool blue colours. The phone’s customized software dashboard (Lenovo Legion Realm) can be customised to the user’s taste.

The rest of the specs include virtual gamepad controls for touch and move simulations (Lenovo Legion Assistant) and built-in gyroscope sensor for motion detection. The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel (also known as the Lenovo Legion Phone Pro in China) will be available starting July in China and eventually in select markets in Asia Pacific, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and Latin America.
