Sony Xperia 8 Lite Debuts with Xperia 10/10 Plus Specs and New Cameras

Sony has announced the launch of its latest Xperia smartphone – the Sony Xperia 8 Lite in Japan. It has the same specs as the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus, but the processor has been stepped down for the over three-year old Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor and main camera setup has been bumped up to a 12MP (f/1.8) + 8MP (f/2.4) dual rear camera setup instead of the 13MP (f/2.0) + 5MP (f/2.4) setup with support for 2x optical zoom.

The Sony Xperia 8 Lite has a 6-inch Full HD+ LCD display with 21:9 wide aspect ratio and corning gorilla glass 6 protection, 4GB of RAM, 64GB built-in storage (expandable up to 512GB with microSD cards) and 2,870mAh battery with Stamina mode. The rest of the specs include 8MP (f/2.0) selfie camera, 3.5 mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, waterproof (IPX5/IPX8)/dustproof (IP6X) rating, NFC and USB Type-C port for charging.

The device is based on the two-year old Android Pie, with possible upgrades to Android 10 and Android 11. It is currently available exclusively via select Japanese carriers (Nuro Mobile, Mineo and IIJmio) from September 1 starting at JPY 29,800 (US$ 282). Black and white are the available colour options.
