Following March’s launch of the nubia RedMagic 6 and 6 Pro gaming smartphones, the Chinese company has introduced the nubia RedMagic 6R to join the series. The entrant retains the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile platform for processing power and 5G connectivity, but the battery has been stepped down to 4200mAh with 55W fast charging support and 30W fast charger in the global version.
The nubia RedMagic 6R sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 144Hz screen refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and 16MP selfie camera (compared to 8MP on the 6 and 6 Pro) in the front-center punch-hole notch. It comes pre-loaded with the RedMagic OS 4.0 (based on Android 11) and there are also touch-based shoulder triggers on the frame which offer 400Hz touch sampling rate.
For photography, it retains the 64MP main and 8MP ultra-wides cameras from its predecessors but ads two cameras instead of one. The new additions are a 5MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor. The rest of the specs include up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256GB (UFS 3.1) storage, DTS:X Ultra audio, Wi-Fi 6, and USB Type-C port.
Pricing starts at CNY 2,699 for the 6GB + 128GB model; CNY 2,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model; CNY 3,299 for the 12GB + 128GB model and CNY 3,599 for the highest model (12GB + 256GB) in either Phantom Black or Streamer Silver colours. nubia is also offering a limited Tencent Games Edition (Yellow) of the highest model for CNY 3,999.
