Official: Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G Mobile Platform

Qualcomm Technologies has announced the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G mobile platform at the ongoing MWC 2021. The latest addition to the company’s high-end flagship 8 series is a minor upgrade to existing Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile platform which can be found powering devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, Vivo X60 Pro+ , Meizu 18/18 Pro, iQOO 7 and Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus Mobile Platform delivers a boost in CPU and AI performance. The clock speed of the single prime Kryo 680 CPU (Cortex-X1) core has increased from 2.84GHz up to 2.995GHz (3.0GHz if you ask Qualcomm) – translating into over 5% increase in performance. The second cluster (3x Cortex-A78 cores) and third cluster (4x Cortex-A55 cores) remain the same.

The 6th-gen Qualcomm AI engine has also improved by 20% on the Snapdragon 888 Plus. This guarantees up to 32 TOPS AI performance, compared to up to 26 TOPS offered by the Snapdragon 888. Most of the specs remain the same including the clock speed of the Adreno 660 GPU which remains capped at 840MHz and 3rd-Gen Snapdragon™ X60 5G Modem-RF System.

Qualcomm has announced that devices from ROG, Motorola, HONOR (HONOR Magic Series 3), Vivo and Xiaomi will arrive with the chipset in Q3 2021.
