Blackberry Working with Boeing on Self-Destructing ‘Blackphone’ Smartphone

Blackberry has confirmed it is working with popular Aircraft Manufacturer, Boeing in building a very secure Android OS runned smartphone. The smartphone is said to be called the Boeing Blackphone and has been spotted on the FCC website. The listing has the smartphone with the name – Boeing Black (H8V-BLK1) but has its all his details protected.

Blackberry CEO, John Chen confirmed the existence of the project during a conference call held to discuss the company’s quaterly results, he states;

‘We’re pleased to announce that Boeing is collaborating with BlackBerry to provide a secure mobile solution for Android devices utilizing our BES 12 platform.

That, by the way, is all they allow me to say.’

The Boeing Blackphone is said to be running on a more secured version of Android, supports Dual SIM functionality, uses micro-SIM cards and support GSM, WCDMA and LTE networks. The device also has HDMI port, Bluetooth, USB and Wi-Fi.

The listing further suggests the smartphone would only be sold primarily to government agencies and companies in contractual agreement with the homeland and defence security.

The Boeing Blackphone primarily self destructs when the smartphone is tampered with as the phone would be sealed. Asides self-destructing, all the data available on the device would be deleted.
